Stargazer Painting
This is an oil painting (14 x 16) that I am entering in a local art exhibit tomorrow. I am excited because it has been a long time since I have entered any of my art in an exhibit (with the exception of a donated piece of art painted for a small gallery nearby to help raise money to help them maintain costs). I am looking forward to the opening, as it will be fun to meet other artists.

Gray and Snowing
Good ole New England! It is snowing heavily and quite somber looking outside. However, it is nice and toasty in our home. I made a big pot of vegetable beef soup and it has been simmering all day. That makes me feel good for some reason. Now I am off to work on some atc's on playing cards. A first for me (on playing cards), so onto the challenge. After completion of these atc's, my current portrait challenge awaits. I think that will wait until tomorrow, as I prefer to work during the day...the light is so different at night. Until then.........

Longer days - longer light
It is really great to have daylight last longer. February is a long month, it seems. Having it stay light longer, makes me feel better, knowing that Spring is not too too far away. This past week-end was a busy one! We went out to eat where my son Bud's band played, and enjoyed seeing all of our young people friends. The music was "right on" and the evening flew by. The next evening we enjoyed a play at a local theatre--the tickets gifted to us at Christmas. I cannot remember the last time we went out two nights in a row! It was nice to relax on Sunday and take it slow. I have lots of art work lined up for a number of swaps, and on the downside, have to finish working on our tax information. : (( That is not my favorite yearly task. It's a good thing I have art to keep me sane.

Great Day!
Today was a good day! I finished the oil portrait of my granddaughter, Krystal.
The photograph I painted from was taken when she was around 4 or 5 years old. She will be 21 years old on February 16th!
I also painted my friend Michele's cat, Maya, to give to her as a gift. Michele lives in Beynes, France and we have been corresponding for nearly 22 years, finding each other on an international pen pal sign-up sheet. We have been sisters ever since that time. I visited Michele during the Desert Storm... air fare was very reasonable at that time. I enjoyed France for 10 days and she was the most gracious and hospitable hostess. I also have been enjoying mail art swaps, receiving "cat" atc's, and recently facilitating the "bird" atc swap on 14 Secrets. It was great fun and I loved looking at all of the fantastic art work on the atc's. If you have never tried it, I highly recommend trying it at least once.
