Hyland Farm Brewery Party

On Sunday, October 11th, I made my way with my little Yaris to Sturbridge, MA to the Hyland Farm Brewery where my son, Buddy, played with his band "The Lobsterz From Marz". I met my granddaughter, Krystal, and her dear friend, Kelsey and spent the afternoon outdoors under a pavillion with many other people. It was a beautiful day, although a bit crisp, and children, dogs, adults, and farm animals were abundant. Here are some photos I took of the day. My cheeks got rosy and I developed an appetite as a result.

OOPs, guess I messed up on the photos. Just click on each one to get a full view.

Fairy Doll Making

Friday afternoon, my God-child, Jasmine, called me, asking if she could visit and to sleep over. I can never refuse her, so I picked her up early that evening after dinner. After some conversation, snack, and reading books, she and I retired for the evening. Jasmine awoke early on Saturday morning and had to have breakfast immediately! Then, without a pause, said, "Can we paint?". I hadn't finished my coffee yet, and my eyes were not entirely focused on the new day; however, I said, "sure". In the interim, Jasmine had found the remains of 2 orchid blossoms that had fallen off and were laying on the tabletop in the sunporch. She then asked what happened to them, and then said, "They look like fairy wings. Can we make a fairy doll?" Of course she could, why not? We made a list of materials, and I gathered all from my art studio, placing the materials out on a large round table in the sunporch. For the next hour and a half, Jasmine chose what she wanted to use for the doll, and worked with me to create a fairy doll. The original fallen orchid blossoms were not used as wings as originally intended, but were glued to paper wings found previously at a tag sale for such a purpose as this! When nearly done, Jasmine told me that this fairy doll was for me, and that we could use it when we play with the dolls in her play space downstairs, and that I could fly it around when we play. I was quite honored, and thanked her for her gifting me the fairy doll. Here it is in all its splendor. It was a memorable morning with Jasmine.

Indian Summer is here

The sky is filled with great big fluffy clouds in a background of cerulean blue and all is well. I'd love to share some photos of the PA landscape of Churchtown with all of you. Enjoy!

Return to blog

I have been away for some time~a few days spent in the Amish Country in PA, which was so beautiful and delightful. I went with 3 friends and we spent time in a little cottage (a parish house) right next to a very old church and a cemetery. What I enjoyed the most was simply the environment, and eating dinner with an Amish family in their home. It was quite an experience. After coming home, I had some surgery, so have not been blogging as usual. I am posting a picture of a button pin I made for a swap. It is the first time I have swapped button jewelry and this one went to the UK, along with a yummy chocolate bar! I will post some photos of my time in Churchtown, PA. I plan to use some of the photos for paintings.

You put your left foot in....

My brother asked me to clean up and paint a cement duck that was in his yard that was covered with mold and needed paint. I went to a friend's home to visit his ducks to take some photos in order to paint my brother's ducks (1 mother and 1 baby) in a realistic manner. I paid close attention to the webbed feet in order to get the color right, as well as the bill and eyes. Here are a few shots I took. Those ducks were so funny, and I had a great time (loved their quacking!) ~ They "quacked" me up!!!

Busy as a Bee

Oh yes, I am. Lots on my plate currently, but I am always loving being busy. This is a pic I took when I went for a walk yesterday. I was looking for subject matter to draw/paint/collage, etc. I watched this bee for a while and decided I would take its picture. With fall in the air, I feel a shift. Time to settle in my studio and get down to real bzzzzz ness! Click to see image more clearly.
